Fiji Airports has entered into an $8.6 million contract with Pacific Building Solutions Group to carry out construction at the Labasa Terminal.

The selection of Pacific Building Solutions Group followed a comprehensive tender process. This latest project comes after a $10 million investment made earlier this year aimed at upgrading pavement at five outer airports, including Labasa.

The Labasa Terminal project will involve the construction of a temporary terminal, the demolition of the current terminal, and the establishment of a new permanent terminal featuring separate areas for arrivals and departures. Construction of the temporary terminal is set to commence in the first week of October, with completion expected by January 2025. The main terminal’s construction will begin in January 2025 and is scheduled to wrap up by June 2026.

Fiji Airports is dedicated to minimizing disruptions during this project and ensuring that stakeholders are kept informed. “We have formally notified Fiji Link, Northern Air, Police, taxi operators, and the shop operator at Labasa Airport regarding the project and its timelines,” commented Company Chief Executive, Mesake Nawari.

The enhancements are designed to improve the travel experience for domestic passengers while catering to the increasing passenger traffic.
