Fiji Airports Takes Safety to New Heights with Mock Emergency Drill

Fiji Airports has recently executed a comprehensive emergency drill simulating an aircraft crisis, reiterating its dedication to upholding stringent safety protocols as outlined by the International Civil Aviation Organization and the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF). The exercise, which took place on Wednesday, included participation from various stakeholders, reflecting a collaborative effort in ensuring a robust response to potential emergencies.

Mesake Nawari, the Chief Executive Officer of Fiji Airports, highlighted the importance of such exercises, noting that this full-scale drill is conducted every two years to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response strategies and readiness of personnel to effectively manage real-life emergencies. Furthermore, he emphasized that the airport’s Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFFS) carries out annual reviews and tabletop drills in collaboration with stakeholders to continually assess the airport’s emergency preparedness.
