Fiji Airports has officially partnered with COX Architecture Pty Ltd to implement a landslide master plan for Nadi and Nausori Airports. The Australian architectural firm was selected after a comprehensive tender process, reflecting its proven expertise in similar projects at major international airports, including the recently developed Western Sydney International Airport.

Mesake Nawari, CEO of Fiji Airports, emphasized the importance of this partnership, highlighting COX’s experience with significant projects such as Singapore’s Changi Airport Terminal 3, New Delhi International Airport Terminal 3, and Sydney International Airport. The firm has been given 32 weeks to complete its scope of work, aiming to enhance both airports and offer new diversification opportunities, particularly in non-aeronautical segments, while continuing to strengthen the core business of air traffic and airport management.

This development aligns with the recent presentation of the updated airside master plan to Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. Nawari noted that the landslide master plan is designed to work in conjunction with the 2024-2048 airside master plan, which was officially endorsed in early October.

Fiji Airports plays a significant role in positioning Fiji as an aviation and tourism leader, helping it maintain global connections between diverse markets. Nawari expressed optimism about the future, stating that the upcoming projects will transform perceptions of air travel and business opportunities. Over the next decade, Fiji Airports is geared up for substantial growth with 18 projects underway.

These initiatives will include enhancements to existing facilities and infrastructure, the construction of a modern domestic terminal, new gates, expanded parking areas, and upgraded aerobridges, all aimed at improving the passenger experience. The focus on growth and innovation paints a bright future for Fiji’s aviation sector, promising to elevate both the airports and the overall travel experience in the region.

In summary, the collaboration with COX Architecture marks a significant step forward for the development of Nadi and Nausori Airports, further establishing Fiji’s position as a leading aviation hub while fostering economic growth and tourism.
