Fiji Airports Set for First-Ever Security Review to Enhance Global Standards

Fiji Airports is currently hosting its first security review, conducted by aviation security experts from Airports Council International (ACI), at Nadi International Airport. This review is crucial as air travel continues to increase following the global COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the need for robust security measures.

CEO Mesake Nawari highlighted the significance of this evaluation, acknowledging the critical role Fiji Airports plays in aviation within the country and the broader Blue Pacific region. The ACI’s APEX (Airport Excellence) team will assess existing security practices, pinpoint vulnerabilities, and offer recommendations aligned with international standards and best practices.

The review will cover multiple facets of airport security, including policies, surveillance, risk assessments, incident response, and various airport infrastructure elements like terminals and runways. A team made up of international experts from South Korea, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, and Tahiti is conducting this four-day review.

Additionally, this initiative aligns with Fiji Airports’ strategic objectives for 2025-2034, which emphasize safety, security, and compliance, contributing to the goal of becoming a world-class aviation hub in the Blue Pacific.

In summary, the review not only aims to strengthen the security framework at Fiji’s airports but also represents a proactive step toward ensuring the safety of travelers in an evolving aviation landscape. This effort exemplifies a commitment to maintaining high standards in airport operations, providing promising prospects for the future of aviation in Fiji and its surrounding region.
