Fiji Airports Boosts Travel with $8.6M Labasa Terminal Upgrade

Fiji Airports has officially entered into an $8.6 million agreement with Pacific Building Solutions Group for redevelopment work at the Labasa Terminal. The Pacific Building Solutions Group was chosen after a comprehensive tender evaluation process.

This new project comes on the heels of a $10 million investment made earlier in the year aimed at upgrading pavement at five outer airports, including Labasa.

The scope of the Labasa Terminal project encompasses the construction of a temporary terminal, the demolition of the current terminal, and the development of a new permanent terminal featuring designated areas for arrivals and departures.

Construction of the temporary terminal is slated to commence in the first week of October and is expected to be completed by January 2025. Work on the main terminal will begin in January 2025, with an anticipated completion date of June 2026.

Fiji Airports is focused on minimizing disruptions during this process and ensuring all stakeholders are kept well-informed. “We have officially communicated with Fiji Link, Northern Air, Police, taxi operators, and the shop operator at Labasa Airport about the project and its timelines,” stated Chief Executive, Mesake Nawari.

This initiative aims to improve the travel experience for domestic passengers and accommodate increasing passenger traffic.
