The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office has reported that 312 individuals are currently seeking shelter in six designated evacuation centers. The activation of both the Western Divisional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) reflects a coordinated response to ensure the safety of those affected.

The evacuation centers are located at Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, the Vou Dance Group Office, Nalele Village Community Hall, and Tavua District Primary School. Together, these centers are providing refuge for 73 households amidst the ongoing situation.

Efforts are underway from the Western Divisional EOC and NEOC to deliver essential supplies to evacuees residing in these centers. Furthermore, local Non-Government Organizations in Nadi are collaborating with the Divisional EOC West to enhance the government’s response measures.

This proactive approach highlights the community’s determination to support its members during crises, demonstrating resilience and solidarity. With ongoing efforts to ensure the well-being of evacuees, there is a hopeful outlook that those displaced will receive the assistance they need to recover.
