The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office has reported that 312 people are currently taking refuge in six designated evacuation centers. The Western Divisional Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) and the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) have been fully activated to respond to the situation.
As noted by the NDRMO, these centers are providing shelter to 73 households in the Western Division. The locations of the active evacuation centers include Andrews Primary School, Saioni Church, Korovuto Secondary School, Vou Dance Group Office, Nalele Village Community Hall, and Tavua District Primary School.
Efforts are underway to ensure that evacuees receive adequate rations, with both the Western Divisional EOC and NEOC coordinating support. Additionally, non-governmental organizations based in Nadi are collaborating with the Division EOC to enhance the government’s response efforts.
