The Fiji Bitter Kadavu 7s tournament is set to kick off later this week, with both the tournament organizers and the Kadavu Rugby Union designating $5,000 for improvements to the restroom facilities and classroom painting at Namalata Central School.

Lynda Tabuya, Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, and head of the Kadavu Rugby Union, announced the plans during the tournament’s launch at the Paradise Beverages Fiji Ltd headquarters in Walu Bay, Suva.

“We have chosen to collaborate with the school as they have been hosting our tournaments,” she stated.

Tabuya noted that players participating in the tournament would be involved in the projects, contingent on the school’s readiness to proceed.

“We aim to complete the work by Christmas this year, and the school holidays would be an ideal time for us to undertake this initiative,” she added.

Although schools will be closed during the long break leading up to the 2025 academic year, Tabuya mentioned it would be convenient for local teams to engage in the work since more competitions are planned to begin in January.

She also expressed gratitude to sponsors Fiji Bitter and Paradise Beverages for their strong partnership in this effort and their commitment to supporting grassroots rugby.

The tournament will be held at the school grounds located on the island of Vunisea.
