Fiji 7s: The Lone Survivor’s Quest for Glory

Illustration of Mocenacagi lone survivor from last Cape Town 7s win

Sevuloni Mocenacagi stands as the sole survivor from the Fiji 7s team that jubilantly celebrated a victory at the Cape Town 7s back in 2018. During that memorable tournament, Mocenacagi scored a crucial try in the final, helping Fiji triumph over the USA with a score of 29-15, under the guidance of then-coach Gareth Baber.

In contrast, the recent roster includes captain Jeremaia Matana and experienced players like Pilipo Bukayaro, Terio Veilawa, Filipe Sauturaga, Vuiviwa Naduvalo, and Iokimi Vunaki. They were part of Ben Gollings’ team that secured a bronze medal by defeating Ireland 14-7 last year.

With a successful outing at the Dubai 7s last week, the Fiji 7s team is optimistic as they head into the upcoming competition, aiming for another strong performance.

This article highlights the team’s resilience and camaraderie, showcasing past glories while looking forward to new opportunities. It is a reminder of the enduring spirit of Fiji rugby and the potential for future success.
