As the Fiji Airways men’s sevens team gears up for the HSBC SVNS World Series starting later this month, they are enhancing their preparations by participating in the Fiji Bitter Mataso 7s tournament. This competition will feature two Fiji 7s teams and a team from the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua.

Suliano Volivoli emphasized the importance of the Mataso tournament in improving their performance ahead of the crucial Dubai 7s. He expressed that participating in the Mataso would serve as a valuable opportunity for the team to refine their skills and readiness for the international stage. “We are looking towards preparing ourselves well for our game time there so that we are ready when we depart for the Dubai 7s,” Volivoli stated.

The Mataso tournament is expected to draw a significant crowd, as devoted fans will have the chance to see the national team in action before they head off to Dubai. Head coach Osea Kolinisau, anticipating a tough selection process for the final team roster, has voiced his optimism about the upcoming 2024/2025 World Series season.
