Fiji 7s Team Returns with Silver: What’s Next?

The Youth and Sports Minister Jese Saukuru announced that every member of the Fiji Men’s 7s team will receive a reward for their performance.

Both the men’s and women’s 7s teams returned home today from the Paris Olympics, but their rewards will be delayed until all Team Fiji athletes are back from the event.

A national celebration is being planned by the Fiji Rugby Union and the Government to honor the men’s team, which won a silver medal.

This morning, the men’s and women’s rugby sevens teams were warmly welcomed at Nadi International Airport by families, friends, and relatives upon their return from Paris.

The teams participated in a traditional ceremony at the Tanoa International Hotel later that day.

Team captain Jerry Tuwai expressed disappointment about finishing with a silver medal rather than gold. He highlighted that even though they did not achieve the top position, the team has set a positive example for younger generations and aspiring Olympians.

Minister Jese Saukuru commended both teams for their efforts in his welcoming remarks and reiterated his commitment to reward each member of the Men’s 7s team for their accomplishments.

The players will now enjoy a well-deserved break before they begin preparing for the upcoming HSBC Sevens Series season.
