Fiji 7s Team Prepares for Dubai Showdown: Are They Ready to Dominate?

Osea Kolinisau, head coach of the Fiji men’s 7s rugby team, emphasizes the crucial importance of focus and execution as the team prepares for the Dubai 7s, the inaugural leg of the HSBC series. The coach underlined the necessity for his players to stick to their training regimen and game strategies.

Kolinisau stressed the significance of teamwork and discipline in implementing both defensive and offensive plays, noting that he aims to witness the players’ understanding and flawless execution of their training. He mentioned, “I like to see the boys play as a team, execute our defence setups, our attack patterns, and play to our level, the Fiji Rugby style.”

The coach expressed a clear ambition for victory, stating that every tournament brings the goal of winning, declaring, “There is no use going if there is no goal to win.” Fortunately, the squad is free from injuries, with all players in good health and eager for the competition.

Gratitude was expressed toward sponsors Fiji Airways and FIJI Water, acknowledging their crucial contributions to Fiji Rugby’s achievements. Kolinisau also thanked fans and families for their steadfast support, which is vital for the team to reflect the spirit of Fiji Rugby 7s in Dubai.

Fiji’s upcoming match schedule includes facing Spain at 6:06 PM on Saturday, the USA at 9:52 PM the same evening, and concluding pool matches against New Zealand at 3:16 AM on Sunday. The men’s cup quarter-finals are set to start at 6:48 PM on Sunday, leading into the semi-finals at 10:06 PM and culminating with the cup final at 4:11 AM on Monday.

Additionally, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team will also compete, starting against Ireland at 5:44 PM on Saturday, followed by matches against Australia and China on the same day. The women’s cup quarter-finals will begin at 5:20 PM on Sunday.
