Fiji’s national rugby sevens team, under the guidance of coach Osea Kolinisau, has celebrated a successful campaign in the HSBC SVNS Series, securing two medals during the Dubai and Cape Town tournaments. Their impressive performances have propelled them to the top of the series standings.
In Dubai, Fiji clinched the gold medal, earning 20 points, and followed that success with a bronze medal in Cape Town, which added another 16 points to their tally. As a result, Fiji currently leads the standings with a total of 36 points. Spain is close behind in second place with 32 points, while France and South Africa are tied for third and fourth positions with 30 points each. New Zealand sits in sixth place with 24 points.
The Fiji team will now take a well-deserved break before gearing up for the upcoming Perth 7s event early next year.
This achievement highlights the growing strength of Fiji’s rugby sevens program on the international stage. With their current momentum, there is great hope that they can maintain their lead as they prepare for future tournaments. The return to training has the potential to further sharpen their skills, making Fiji a formidable contender in the upcoming competitions.
