Fiji 7s Stars Rally Behind Kolinisau’s Return as Coach

Fiji Airways Fiji 7s players Waisea Nacuqu and Sevuloni Mocenacagi have voiced their enthusiasm following Osea Kolinisau’s reappointment as head coach of the Fiji 7s team for the next four years.

In a recent discussion, the players shared their insights on the forthcoming season and their ambitions, which include the 2026 Rugby World Cup. They expressed confidence in Kolinisau’s return, highlighting his leadership skills and profound knowledge of the sport.

Having played alongside Kolinisau, both Nacuqu and Mocenacagi believe that his playing experience will positively influence the team as they gear up for a challenging season. “We are happy that Kolinisau is staying; he is a good coach, and we know him because we played together and now he’s the coach. He understands us well and knows his plans,” stated Nacuqu.

With the start of the 2024/2025 Sevens Series just around the corner, kicking off with the Dubai and Cape Town events later this year, the players acknowledged the importance of focusing on their fitness to remain competitive internationally. “Our main focus now is to improve our fitness and prepare well for the next 2024/2025 series starting with Dubai and Cape Town,” they remarked.

Looking beyond the immediate season, Nacuqu and Mocenacagi are also setting their sights on earning spots in the squad for the 2026 Rugby World Cup. “We are aiming for the 2026 RWC spot, and we know it comes with a lot of dedication and hard work,” they concluded.
