Fiji Airways Fiji 7s players Waisea Nacuqu and Sevuloni Mocenacagi have expressed their enthusiasm regarding Osea Kolinisau’s reappointment as the head coach of the Fiji 7s team. Kolinisau will lead the team for the next four years.
In a recent interview, Nacuqu and Mocenacagi shared their thoughts on the upcoming season and their aspirations, which include participating in the 2026 Rugby World Cup. Both players are thrilled about Kolinisau’s return, praising his leadership skills and comprehensive understanding of rugby.
Having played alongside Kolinisau, they believe his experience as a former player will benefit the team as they gear up for a demanding season. Nacuqu remarked, “We are happy that Kolinisau is staying; he is a good coach, and we know him because we played together, and now he’s our coach. He understands us well, and he knows his plans.”
With the 2024/2025 Sevens Series set to kick off with the Dubai and Cape Town tournaments later this year, the players acknowledged the importance of maintaining their fitness to remain competitive on the international stage. “Our main focus now is to improve our fitness and prepare well for the next 2024/2025 series starting with Dubai and Cape Town,” they stated.
Looking beyond the upcoming season, Nacuqu and Mocenacagi are targeting places in the squad for the 2026 Rugby World Cup, stressing that achieving this goal will require significant dedication and hard work. “We are aiming for the 2026 RWC spot, and we know it comes with a lot of dedication and hard work.”
