Fiji 7s Stars Back Kolinisau: What’s Next for Team’s Future?

Fiji Airways Fiji 7s players Waisea Nacuqu and Sevuloni Mocenacagi have shared their enthusiasm about Osea Kolinisau being reappointed as the head coach of the Fiji 7s team for the next four years.

In a recent interview, the players expressed their views on the upcoming season and their aspirations, including preparations for the 2026 Rugby World Cup. They praised Kolinisau’s leadership skills and his deep knowledge of the game, noting that having played alongside him, they believe his experience will positively influence the team as they gear up for a challenging season.

Nacuqu remarked, “We are happy that Kolinisau is staying; he is a good coach, and we know him because we played together, and now he’s the coach. He understands us well and knows his plans.”

With the 2024/2025 Sevens Series on the horizon, starting with the Dubai and Cape Town competitions later this year, Nacuqu and Mocenacagi emphasized the importance of improving their fitness to remain competitive internationally. They stated, “Our main focus now is to improve our fitness and prepare well for the next 2024/2025 series starting with Dubai and Cape Town.”

Looking beyond the immediate future, both players aim to secure positions in the squad for the 2026 Rugby World Cup. They concluded, “We are aiming for the 2026 RWC spot, and we know it comes with a lot of dedication and hard work.”
