Sevuloni Mocenacagi remains the sole survivor from the Fiji 7s team that last celebrated victory at the Cape Town Sevens in 2018. Mocenacagi made a significant impact during that tournament, scoring a try in the final, where Fiji triumphed over the USA with a score of 29-15, securing the championship under the guidance of then-coach Gareth Baber.

In contrast, captain Jeremaia Matana and experienced players such as Pilipo Bukayaro, Terio Veilawa, Filipe Sauturaga, Vuiviwa Naduvalo, and Iokimi Vunaki were part of Ben Gollings’ squad that earned a bronze medal after defeating Ireland 14-7 in last year’s tournament.

As the team prepares for this weekend’s competition following their recent victory at the Dubai 7s, they are hopeful for yet another successful outing.

This renewed focus and determination from the Fiji 7s squad indicates a bright future as they look to build on their recent achievements and possibly reclaim their former glory. The experience of Mocenacagi, alongside the talent of the current lineup, could very well set the stage for a remarkable performance in the upcoming tournament.
