Osea Kolinisau, head coach of the Fiji Airways men’s sevens team, has announced the squad for the upcoming HSBC Dubai 7s, marking the beginning of the 2024/2025 series. The selection of the 12-member team follows the completion of the Fiji Bitter Mataso 7s tournament in Lautoka, where the Fiji 7s Blue team triumphed over the Taikita Brothers with a decisive 29-5 victory.
The national team’s participation in the tournament featured two squads; however, Fiji 7s White was eliminated in the semi-finals after a narrow 10-15 loss to the Taiki Ta Brothers. Kolinisau’s announcement highlights the rigorous training the players underwent, showcasing their readiness and commitment to represent Fiji in Dubai.
In a previous training session at the FRU High Performance Gym in Laucala Bay, Suva, Kolinisau addressed the challenging nature of forming the squad amidst pressure, noting the mix of experienced and new players that will be contributing to the team’s goals.
The Fiji men’s sevens team has now departed for Dubai, eager to perform at their best in the international arena.
