The Fiji 7s development team is now fully equipped with its roster ahead of the Oceania Rugby Sevens Championship commencing tomorrow. The squad has welcomed back three players—Manueli Maisamoa, Lasaro Bogisa, and Sakiusa Saqila—who recently returned from a triumphant stint in Dubai, where they contributed to the Sri Lions’ victory in the Men’s International Open Cup, defeating Speranza with a score of 36-17 in the finals.
Head Coach Viliame Satala expressed his enthusiasm about the players’ return, noting, “It’s great to be joined by Saqila, Maisamoa, and Lasaro who came back from Dubai and have trained well with the boys.” He acknowledged the challenging weather conditions in Honiara but mentioned that the players have adapted effectively and are prepared for the tournament.
As Fiji prepares to face Nauru first, Satala emphasized their approach to the competition, stating they respect their opponents and will maintain a high standard of play, akin to that of the Series. The Fiji 7s development team will take on Nauru at 11:34 AM, followed by a match against Tuvalu at 7:16 PM.
This event marks a significant opportunity for the players to showcase their skills on a larger stage, and fans are hopeful for strong performances as they represent Fiji in the championship. The team’s commitment and respect for their competitors bode well for an exciting tournament ahead.
