Fiji’s 7s Head Coach Osea Kolinisau is focused on ensuring his team performs at a high level as the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series prepares to resume. Following their gold medal win at the Dubai 7s, the Fiji 7s team faced a setback in Cape Town, where they secured only a bronze medal. Kolinisau expressed the need for improvement, particularly in maintaining their processes during critical moments of the game.
He pinpointed a lapse in communication and spacing during the final seconds of their match in Cape Town, which contributed to their performance issues. “We want to ensure that when we are tired, we still stick to our processes,” Kolinisau stated.
As the team resumes training, he noted that they are slightly out of sync but are focused on refining their fundamentals. Kolinisau emphasized that their initial sessions are about reestablishing those key processes rather than intense contact practice.
Looking ahead, the Fiji 7s team is set to participate in the Coral Coast Sevens next week, with their eyes firmly set on the upcoming SVNS Series event in Perth from January 24 to 26.
This commitment to improvement and strategic focus bodes well for the team’s future, as they continue to build on their successes and learn from their experiences on the world stage. As they prepare for the challenges ahead, fans can remain hopeful that the Fiji 7s team will rise to the occasion and secure impressive results in upcoming tournaments.
