Fiji 7s Head Coach Osea Kolinisau is focused on ensuring his team achieves a strong finish on the global stage as preparations ramp up for the HSBC SVNS Series. Following their gold medal victory at the Dubai 7s, the Fiji 7s squad faced a setback in Cape Town, where they managed to secure only a bronze medal. Kolinisau expressed that the team lost focus in the final moments of the Cape Town tournament.

“We need to fine-tune our processes, especially when fatigue sets in,” Kolinisau stated, pointing to the breakdown in communication and spacing during the last 30 seconds of the match in Cape Town. He emphasized the importance of maintaining their strategy under pressure.

Now that the team has returned to training for the new year, Kolinisau noted they are working to shake off the rust in their performance. “It was more about getting our processes back in place rather than full contact training,” he explained.

As they move forward, the Fiji 7s team is gearing up for the Coral Coast Sevens next week, before turning their attention to the next stop in the SVNS Series taking place in Perth from January 24-26.

This revitalized focus from Kolinisau and his team exemplifies their commitment to excellence and highlights their determination to succeed on the world stage despite recent challenges. With upcoming competitions, there is a promising opportunity for the Fiji 7s to regain their momentum and showcase their talents. Fans can look forward to an exciting season ahead as the team aims for improvement and success.
