Fiji’s 7s Head Coach, Osea Kolinisau, is focused on ensuring his team performs exceptionally as they prepare for the upcoming HSBC SVNS Series. After achieving a gold medal at the Dubai 7s, the team faced some challenges in Cape Town, where they finished with a bronze medal. Kolinisau noted that the team struggled in the final moments of the tournament, admitting that they lost focus and failed to maintain their processes.

In his statement, Kolinisau emphasized the importance of staying true to their strategies, particularly when fatigue sets in. “In Cape Town, for the last 30 seconds, our processes broke down,” he explained, highlighting deficiencies in communication and spacing during critical game moments. He expressed his intention to improve these aspects in training sessions.

As the team gears up for their first training session of the year, Kolinisau acknowledged that they are entering the field a bit rusty but expressed confidence in their ability to refocus as they work to refine their processes. The immediate goal is to prepare for the Coral Coast Sevens, followed by the next SVNS Series competition in Perth from January 24-26.

This approach reflects a commitment to continuous improvement and strategy refinement, which bodes well for the team’s future prospects as they strive for success on the world stage. The dedication and resilience displayed by the Fiji 7s team demonstrate a strong foundation, which they can build on in the upcoming competitions.

For fans of the sport, it’s an exciting time to support their team as they overcome challenges and work hard to regain their form. The combination of experience and determination could lead to promising results in the near future.
