Fiji 7s Coach Eyes Glory as HSBC Series Resumes

Fiji 7s Head Coach Osea Kolinisau is focused on positioning his team for success in the upcoming HSBC SVNS Series. Following their impressive performance at the Dubai 7s, where they clinched a gold medal, the team faced challenges in Cape Town, settling for bronze. Kolinisau noted that the team’s execution faltered in the final moments of the tournament, as they lost focus during crucial plays.

“We want to ensure our processes are solid, especially when fatigue sets in,” Kolinisau stated, reflecting on the team’s need for improved communication and spacing during high-pressure situations. He emphasized the importance of maintaining their strategic approach, even in demanding circumstances, to avoid breakdowns in performance.

As the team gears up for their first training session of the year, Kolinisau acknowledged that they are experiencing some rustiness but is optimistic about refining their strategies. “It’s not full-on contact yet; we’re focusing on getting our processes back in place,” he commented.

The Fiji 7s squad is currently preparing for the Coral Coast Sevens taking place next week, after which they will set their sights on the next leg of the SVNS Series in Perth from January 24-26. With determination and a commitment to improvement, the team is poised to enhance their performance in future competitions.

This sense of readiness and focus bodes well for the Fiji 7s team as they aim to elevate their standing in the series and showcase their talent on a global stage. The challenges they face will only serve to strengthen their resolve, promising an exciting season ahead.
