Fiji 7s Head Coach Osea Kolinisau is focused on elevating his team’s performance on the global stage as they gear up for the HSBC Sevens World Series restart. After clinching a gold medal at the Dubai 7s, the team had to settle for a bronze medal in Cape Town. Kolinisau noted that the team lost concentration toward the end of the tournament, which impacted their overall performance.

He emphasized the importance of maintaining strong processes, even when fatigue sets in. “In Cape Town, during the last 30 seconds, our processes broke down,” he explained. Issues such as poor communication and wide spacing on the field contributed to that setback, and Kolinisau highlighted the need for improvement in these areas.

Kolinisau expressed his satisfaction with the team getting back on the field for their first training session of the year, acknowledging that they were a bit rusty but it was a good opportunity to reinforce their strategic framework without full-contact practice.

The team is now preparing for the Coral Coast Sevens event next week before setting their sights on the next leg of the World Series in Perth, scheduled for January 24-26.

This optimistic outlook from Coach Kolinisau reflects his strong leadership qualities and the commitment of the Fiji 7s team to adapt, learn, and improve ahead of their upcoming challenges. Their dedication to refining their skills and strategies bodes well for their future competitions.
