Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, has praised the Rewa football team for their achievement in securing a place in the OFC Champions League and winning the 2024 Digicel Fiji Premier League, which wrapped up last month.
In a statement to the Fiji Football Association, Infantino acknowledged the team’s hard work throughout the season, stating, “Their constant effort has paid off, resulting in this important title.” He extended congratulations to all members of the team and the club for their significant accomplishment.
Infantino’s remarks followed Rewa’s impressive 3-1 win at Govind Park in Ba last month. The FIFA president, who has been at the helm of football’s global governing body since 2016, expressed his joy at their success.
As Rewa prepares for the upcoming FMF Inter District Competition, they find themselves in Group B of the Super Premier Division alongside local rivals Ba, Nadi, and Nadroga. Team coach Roderick Singh remarked in a recent interview that their premier league win along with OFC qualification serves as motivation for his squad to pursue further victories.
Looking ahead to the FMF IDC, Singh emphasized the need for a strong and engaging performance, aiming to secure the IDC trophy as they represent Fiji in the 2025 Oceania Football Championship.
