Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, has extended his congratulations to the Rewa football team for earning a place in the OFC Champions League and for clinching the 2024 Digicel Fiji Premier League title, which wrapped up last month.
In a statement to the Fiji Football Association, Infantino praised the team’s dedication throughout the season, stating, “Their constant effort throughout the season has paid off, resulting in this important title.” He further congratulated every team member and the club for their remarkable accomplishment.
These remarks followed Rewa’s decisive 3-1 victory at Govind Park in Ba last month. Infantino, who has been at the helm of FIFA since 2016, highlighted the significance of the achievement for the team.
As for the Delta side, they are currently gearing up for the FMF Inter District Competition, where they are positioned in group B of the Super Premier Division alongside Ba, Nadi, and Nadroga. Coach Roderick Singh commented in an interview that their premier league victory and OFC qualification serve as motivation for the team to pursue further success in upcoming competitions.
As they approach the FMF IDC with their recent accolades, Singh emphasized the need for a strong performance to secure the IDC trophy, aiming to represent Fiji at the 2025 Oceania Football Championship.
