FIFA President Gianni Infantino extended his congratulations to the Rewa football team for their qualification for the OFC Champions League and their victory in the 2024 Digicel Fiji Premier League, which wrapped up last month. Infantino shared his commendations in a statement issued to the Fiji Football Association, stating, “Their constant effort throughout the season has paid off, resulting in this important title.” He added, “Congratulations to each and every member of the team and of the club for this great achievement.”
These remarks followed Rewa’s 3-1 win at Govind Park in Ba last month. Infantino, who has been leading FIFA since 2016, emphasized the significance of their accomplishments.
Currently, the Delta team is preparing for the FMF Inter District Competition, where they will compete in group B of the Super Premier Division alongside Western teams Ba, Nadi, and Nadroga. Team coach Roderick Singh expressed that their premier league victory and subsequent OFC qualification serve as motivation for his team to pursue further successes. As they head into the FMF IDC with their newfound accolades, Singh highlighted the need for his squad to deliver a compelling and defensive performance to claim the IDC trophy. The team is also set to represent Fiji at the 2025 Oceania Football Championship.
