The Solomon Islands and Hong Kong China are both eager to secure a win at the FIFA International “A” Friendlies tournament, taking place tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Captain Michael Lea’alafa of the Solomon Islands acknowledged the strong skills of the Hong Kong team and emphasized the need for their players to remain focused and prepared to avoid complacency. Lea’alafa expressed excitement about the upcoming match.
“It is always a blessing to play a football game, and all the boys are looking forward to this game,” he stated. “It’s going to be a massive game against Hong Kong, and as our coach mentioned, we are also preparing for the World Cup qualifier, so this game should be a bonus for us to maintain our momentum and identify areas we need to improve.”
On the other hand, Hong Kong China captain Matthew Orr highlighted the physical challenges faced after their long journey to Fiji, stating that the team has been prioritizing recovery and physical readiness in preparation for the match against the Solomon Islands.
Although this is Orr’s first time in Fiji, he is determined to lead his team to victory. “The last couple of days have involved quite a long travel down here, so it’s been more about focusing on recovery and ensuring our bodies are ready before the match,” Orr said.
The match is scheduled to start at 7 PM.
