In a thrilling Group A match during Day 2 of the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC), Suva and Navua played to a 2-2 draw, keeping both teams in contention for a semifinal berth. After each team suffered a defeat in their opening matches against Labasa and Lautoka, both needed a positive result to maintain their hopes.
Suva started strong, taking an early lead with goals from Samuela Drudru and Solomon Islander Gagame Feni, scored in the 8th and 29th minutes, respectively. Just before halftime, Navua managed to respond with a free-kick goal from Kolinio Sivoki, stunning Suva’s goalkeeper Akuila Mateisuva.
Leading 2-1 at halftime, Suva was undone by a defensive lapse in the second half when Remueru Tekiate’s mistake allowed Thomas Dunn to equalize with a well-placed shot. With the draw, both teams earned a point and will need victories in their final matches to qualify for the semifinals.
Flick Hygiene Suva will face Flick Hygiene Lautoka at 8pm, while Stratum Construction/Zeg Investment Navua will go against Extra Supermarket Labasa at 4pm tomorrow.
