FICAC Investigates Alleged Letter Leak Involving Deputy PM

The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) is set to investigate the purported leak of a letter from former acting deputy commissioner Francis Puleiwai, which calls for the prosecution of Deputy Prime Minister Biman Prasad. FICAC Commissioner Barbara Malimali confirmed that the organization would not only address the leak but is also proceeding with the inquiry into Professor Biman.

“Leaks from FICAC will be looked into,” stated Malimali. She acknowledged her awareness of the ongoing investigations against DPM Prasad, leaving the details to her investigative team.

Malimali mentioned that she has yet to review the case files concerning 17 notable individuals that have been forwarded to FICAC. “To be quite honest, I have not seen some of the case files. I have been requesting them, but they haven’t made it to my desk yet. However, each referral is being handled by our team of investigators, and I trust them to address each complaint appropriately.”
