The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) has responded to recent social media claims regarding a break-in at its Headquarters, confirming that while an incident did occur two months ago, allegations of stolen investigation files are unfounded.

Upon the discovery of the break-in, FICAC took immediate action to investigate, including a review of CCTV footage. The Commission has stated that no investigation files pertaining to Deputy Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad or seven other Ministers were compromised during this incident.

FICAC reassures the public that all investigation materials and documents are securely managed by their Registry Officers. Additionally, they have reminded citizens of the importance of refraining from spreading misinformation or posting defamatory content on social media, as such actions could lead to criminal charges.

In light of this incident, it is crucial for the community to rely on verified information from official sources, thereby strengthening trust in institutions like FICAC and the overall integrity of the governance system in Fiji.

By addressing the misinformation head-on, FICAC not only clarifies the situation but also emphasizes the importance of maintaining accurate public discourse. This response underscores the organization’s commitment to transparency and accountability, ensuring that the public remains informed and engaged.
