As the festive season approaches, the Fiji Police Force is ramping up its operations to ensure public safety. The initiative officially began yesterday, and officers have been briefed on the crucial role they play during this busy time of year.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that starting these operations early is essential to raise awareness about personal safety during the celebrations. “We want to remind everyone to be mindful of their safety when traveling on the road, shopping, enjoying picnics by the sea, or spending time with friends,” stated ACP Driu.

The increased police presence is aimed at fostering a safe environment for all. However, ACP Driu noted that safety begins with individual responsibility. “We are also here to maintain law and order. We will collaborate with our stakeholders to monitor activities on the roads,” he added.

The Fiji Police Force aspires to achieve an incident-free festive season and is urging the community to support these efforts. “Police cannot do this alone; we need your support. Help us keep everyone safe, whether it’s on the roads, at sea, in towns and cities, or at home with your family,” Driu said.

Citizens can expect to see more police officers in various areas, including towns, highways, communities, picnic sites, schools, and businesses, reinforcing the commitment to safety throughout this festive period.

This initiative not only stresses the importance of public safety but also reinforces community involvement, creating a collaborative environment where everyone plays a part in ensuring a joyous and secure festive season. Together, the police and the public can enjoy peace of mind during this cherished time of celebration.
