As we approach the festive season, residents of Fiji can anticipate a heightened police presence aimed at ensuring safety during this busy time. The Fiji Police Force has kicked off its festive season operations, an initiative that began recently. Officers have received briefings emphasizing the critical nature of this effort.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, highlighted that the early start of this initiative serves as a reminder for everyone to prioritize personal safety as the joyful season unfolds. He urged the public to remain vigilant while traveling, shopping, picnicking, or enjoying outings with friends.
According to ACP Driu, while the increased police presence is designed to enhance safety for everyone, individual accountability is equally important. He stated, “We are dedicated to maintaining law and order while assisting our partners to monitor movements, particularly on the roads.”
The Fiji Police Force aims for a trouble-free festive period and encourages community support in this endeavor. “Police cannot do this alone, and we need your assistance in ensuring safety, whether on the roads, at sea, in towns and cities, or at home with family,” he added.
Residents can expect to see officers in various locations, including towns and cities, along highways, in communities, at picnic areas, schools, and businesses.
This proactive approach by the police fosters a collaborative spirit among the community, reminding us that safety is a shared responsibility, particularly during the festive season. With collective efforts, there’s hope for a joyful and secure holiday period across the nation.
