Five individuals were taken into custody last night in Narere following a police operation at a residence where six zip-lock bags containing white crystals were discovered. In another significant action yesterday, a police team eradicated 272 green plants, suspected to be marijuana, in the Tacilevu farming area of Savusavu.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu emphasized that drug raids are being conducted daily, resulting in the arrest and charging of suspects. He noted, “We are also conducting raids in villages with the support of the Turaga ni Koro. It’s encouraging to witness community members stepping forward to provide information to the police.”
ACP Driu affirmed that law enforcement will persist with its anti-drug operations throughout the festive season, aiming to eliminate illegal drug activities. Although no arrests have yet been made in connection with the uprooted plants, investigations regarding both incidents are currently underway.
This proactive approach by the police not only showcases the commitment to combating drug proliferation but also highlights the vital role of community collaboration in addressing these issues. Continued community involvement may lead to more effective outcomes in the fight against drug-related crimes, ultimately fostering a safer environment for everyone.
