Five individuals were taken into custody last night in Narere following a police operation that uncovered six zip-lock bags filled with white crystals. In a separate incident, a police team successfully removed 272 green plants suspected to be marijuana from the Tacilevu farming area in Savusavu.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu, the authorities are conducting daily drug raids, resulting in multiple arrests and charges. He noted the importance of community involvement, stating, “We are also conducting raids in Villages with the assistance of the Turaga ni Koro. It’s encouraging to see that people are coming forward to assist Police with information.”
ACP Driu emphasized the commitment of law enforcement to continue these drug operations throughout the festive season in an effort to eradicate drug-related issues. Although no arrest has been made connected to the uprooting of the 272 plants yet, investigations into both cases are actively ongoing.
It is hopeful to see the community’s support in these initiatives, which strengthens the fight against drug abuse and promotes safety and well-being during the holiday season. Such collaborative efforts between law enforcement and local communities can lead to healthier environments and build trust among residents.
