A total of 13 individuals were apprehended yesterday for possessing illicit drugs in various locations. At the Nadonumai Roadblock, a 33-year-old carpenter and a 47-year-old security guard were taken into custody after being found with small plastic bags containing white crystalline substances.
In a separate incident in Waiyavi, Lautoka, police conducted a raid at a residence, resulting in the arrest of four individuals who were discovered with white crystals, drug paraphernalia, and cash suspected to be from drug sales.
Additionally, a 32-year-old mechanic from Waimalika Sabeto was arrested at the Sanasana ground after authorities found him in possession of six bags of white crystals. A 29-year-old man from Semo, Sigatoka, was apprehended at the Ciri Junction bus shelter with seven branches of a plant believed to be marijuana. Furthermore, a 46-year-old farmer from Navosa was arrested at the Nadi Bus Stand with 161 branches of what is thought to be marijuana, along with cash related to drug sales.
In the Ba Market area, a 24-year-old man from Natutu was arrested after being found with eight sachets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana, wrapped in aluminum foil.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu, these arrests signify the commencement of their festive season operations, with expectations for further apprehensions as the campaign continues.
