Two juveniles have been apprehended in distinct sacrilege cases, prompting law enforcement to expand investigations aimed at those trafficking in stolen goods. In Navua, a 17-year-old has been charged for allegedly committing sacrilege along Calia Back Road. Alongside him, a 41-year-old man faces charges for receiving stolen property, under Section 306 of the Crimes Act. Both individuals have appeared in court, with their cases set to return later this month.

In another incident in Newtown, a 15-year-old student was arrested on accusations of stealing various items, including a rug and gas burners, among other household goods. These stolen items were successfully recovered by the Southern Division taskforce.

The Fiji Police Force has noted that such arrests arise during a period when crimes tend to spike, particularly as the festive season approaches. This situation has prompted police investigators to extend their focus to individuals who facilitate these crimes by purchasing or accepting stolen items.

In light of these events, the police urge community members to secure their homes and safeguard high-risk items such as mobile phones, electronics, jewelry, and bags, which are frequently resold quickly on the market. Authorities are reinforcing the call for local communities to prioritize safety and maintain vigilance in their homes and public spaces. The proactive measures being encouraged aim to foster a secure environment for all as the festive season draws near.
