The West Media community recently celebrated its annual family fun day in conjunction with the club’s Christmas party, fostering a spirit of joy and togetherness. The event took place at the Aamira Restaurant, located at the South Seas Club in Lautoka, and highlighted the appreciation for the dedicated media workers and their families.
Supported by the Fijian Media Association (FMA), this gathering provided a wonderful opportunity for members of the media to come together, enjoy each other’s company, and share in the festive spirit. Journalists from various outlets, including the Fiji Times, Fiji Sun, FBC, and staff from City Star, joined together with communications personnel from ASPEN Medical Fiji for this celebratory event.
Rosi Doviverata, the president of the FMA and acting publisher of the Fiji Sun, also participated in the festivities with her family, reinforcing the significance of unity within the media community during the holiday season.
West Media executive Pacolo Vavataga emphasized that this fun day is an eagerly awaited occasion for colleagues to relax and reflect on the year’s achievements. Initiated in the previous year by coordinator Waisea Nasokia, the aim is to not only involve media personnel but also their families, making it a more inclusive and joyous event.
Everyone enjoyed delicious barbecue food and drinks at a shed with a stunning sea view, made possible by the support of various partners including the Tanoa Waterfront, Mali Pest Control, and the South Seas Club. Club management, represented by Jan Mohammed and vice president Hafiz Rahman, expressed their honor in hosting the West Media event.
This annual gathering underscores the importance of camaraderie and community within the media industry, fostering professional relationships while celebrating the season of goodwill with friends and family.
In summary, the West Media family fun day successfully combined festive cheer with professional bonding, highlighting a positive moment in the lives of media workers in Fiji. Such events are crucial for maintaining morale and reinforcing connections beyond daily work activities.
