“Festive Drug Crackdown: Police Targets Supply Chains Amidst Rising Arrests”

Police operations targeting drug activities have escalated in anticipation of the festive season, aiming to disrupt the supply market. In Savusavu, authorities arrested five individuals during drug raids after discovering them with dried leaves suspected to be marijuana. Similarly, in the Central Division, a man in his 50s was apprehended at a carrier stand for possessing a comparable substance.

In Nabua, a man in his 20s was taken into custody along Mead Road, where law enforcement officials found numerous sachets of dried leaves, a plastic bag with seeds believed to be marijuana, and a zip-lock bag containing white crystals thought to be methamphetamine. Furthermore, an 18-year-old male was arrested in Sigatoka Town for having over 50 dried branches and loose leaves believed to be marijuana.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, ACP Livai Driu, stated that divisional operations will also emphasize awareness programs in schools and communities. ACP Driu highlighted that proactive community policing is essential in mitigating the effects of drugs on families and communities. He encouraged the sharing of information to aid law enforcement in their efforts to reduce drug supply.
