Training during the festive season presents unique challenges for athletes, as emphasized by the captain of Lavidi Brothers, Sefanaia Vuli, in preparation for the upcoming McDonalds Fiji Coral Coast 7s. Scheduled to take place from January 16-18 at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka, Lavidi Brothers is among the 16 teams competing in the men’s division.

Vuli expressed the difficulties faced while maintaining consistent training during this festive period, noting that many players missed practices as they returned to their home villages to celebrate Christmas and New Year. He mentioned that family gatherings, feasting, and drinking kava often interfere with training schedules, yet he was pleased that most of the team managed to participate in their training sessions at Sigatoka sand dunes.

With a background that includes a previous role on the national sevens squad and a brief stint with the Kaiviti Silktails, Vuli is determined to make a comeback to the national scene. He acknowledged the intensity of competition at the Coral Coast 7s, recognizing it as one of the most challenging events in the country. The team aims to enhance their fitness levels and maintain consistency among all players as they prepare.

Vuli’s personal goal for the year is to return to the national sevens squad, and he remains hopeful and ready if called upon. Joining him in the Lavidi Brothers line-up are national sevens squad members Iosefo Namoce and Livai Ikanikoda. Notably, the Lavidi Brothers recently finished as the runner-up at the 31st R.C Manubhai Nataleira 7s held at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori last month.

This article highlights the determination and enthusiasm of the Lavidi Brothers as they embark on their journey in the Coral Coast 7s, showcasing the athletes’ commitment to their sport despite the distractions of the festive season. Their collective goal not only aims for personal improvement but also to elevate the team’s presence in the competitive landscape of Fiji rugby. With strong aspirations and talent within the squad, the Lavidi Brothers are poised for a promising performance next week.

For fans of rugby and supporters of the Lavidi Brothers, this is a thrilling time that emphasizes resilience, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence.
