“Festival Celebrates Sustainability Amid Environmental Concerns”

Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima has emphasized the importance of environmental protection amidst recent changes in the North. His remarks were made during the opening of the Festival of the Friendly North at Subrail Park in Labasa on Saturday.

Rainima described the evolving business landscape as a significant milestone for the community but urged that achievements must align with sustainable practices. At the ceremony, contestants showcased outfits crafted from recycled materials, including sacks, plastics, and old greenhouses, reflecting the theme of this year’s festival, “Sustainable Agriculture – Green Economy.”
