FCEF Welcomes New CEO: What Changes Lie Ahead?

The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) has appointed Edward Bernard, a former consultant with the International Labour Organization (ILO), as its new chief executive officer. FCEF President Vinay Narsey expressed enthusiasm about Bernard joining the organization, noting that his extensive experience in collaborating with strategic partners and expertise in private sector development will be crucial in advocating for businesses and employers throughout Fiji.

Bernard has a notable background with 15 years at the ILO, where he was responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and coordinating both national and regional programs and projects. His experience included engaging in policy discussions with national tripartite partners and managing teams and substantial budgets.

In his new role, Bernard aims to enhance FCEF’s advocacy efforts, grow membership, improve member services, and promote best practices in the business sector. “I am honoured to take on this leadership position at FCEF,” said Bernard. He looks forward to collaborating with members, partners, the board, and the secretariat to foster positive change and stimulate economic growth in Fiji. His appointment will take effect on Monday, November 11.
