The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has announced that new regulated prices for Unleaded Petrol (Motor Spirit), Premix, Kerosene, Diesel, and LPG products will take effect on January 1, 2025. These prices are based on fuel and LPG imports from November 2024, implementing a one-month delay for the review process.

The FCCC’s analysis indicates that prices for Motor Spirit and Premix will not change, thanks to favorable international fuel price movements and stable freight rates, despite a robust US dollar. Conversely, Kerosene and Diesel prices are expected to increase due to rising international fuel costs combined with the stronger US dollar.

Additionally, LPG prices will see an upward adjustment attributed to higher Butane Contract Prices and growing demand from global markets.

To ensure transparency and compliance, the FCCC has committed to actively monitoring wholesale and retail prices. Consumers are encouraged to report any discrepancies they encounter. The FCCC’s enforcement teams will be available across various regions to facilitate oversight.

As these changes approach, the public is advised to stay informed by checking for updates at local fuel outlets.

This update signifies the FCCC’s dedication to maintaining fair fuel prices while responding to international market fluctuations, ultimately aiming to protect consumers’ interests in Fiji.
