The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has recently reported 53 cases of non-compliance following an extensive pre-Easter inspection campaign, which targeted over 700 businesses across the country, including supermarkets and retail outlets. Common violations included failures to display prices and instances of sellers charging above the maximum retail price.
FCCC Chief Executive Senikavika Jiuta emphasized that there is no justification for businesses violating the law, stating that strict enforcement actions will be taken against offending traders, especially during the upcoming post-Easter follow-up inspections. This increase in scrutiny aligns with the FCCC’s ongoing efforts to enhance consumer protection and ensure fair trading practices across various sectors.
