Joel Abraham has announced his resignation as the Chief Executive of the Fiji Competition & Consumer Commission (FCCC) after an impressive 13-year tenure with the organization. He has expressed that this decision was not made easily, highlighting the deep emotional connection he feels towards FCCC, which he describes as a family, a purpose, and a home.
Abraham conveyed confidence in his team, stating that he leaves the FCCC in capable hands and is excited about the future of the Commission. He emphasized the significance of investment in staff, asserting that the efforts put into the workforce will continue to benefit Fijian consumers.
During his time with the FCCC, Abraham has prioritized serving Fijians and protecting their rights, establishing systems that uphold public trust. Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica praised Abraham’s contributions, stating that Fijian consumers are in a better position today because of his leadership. He noted that Abraham’s commitment has fostered a spirit of collaboration across the Pacific, evident in the establishment of the Pacific Islands Network of Competition, Consumer Protection, and Economic Regulators (PINCCER).
FCCC Chair Isikeli Tikoduadua also acknowledged Abraham’s transformative work, assuring that his legacy will continue to benefit Fijian consumers for years to come.
