Father-Son Showdown: Sahil Prasad Claims Victory Again!

Sahil Prasad from Nadi Sport’s Club triumphed at the South Seas Club Trustees Cup, claiming his third title last Saturday in Lautoka. In an exciting final, he defeated his father, Yogen Prasad, with a score of 2-0. This victory came with a cash prize of $1,000 for Sahil, while Yogen earned $500 and a trophy for his efforts.

Reflecting on his success, Sahil expressed the challenges of defending his title, saying, “It’s always hard to win it again and again.” He highlighted the significance of competing against his father in the final, noting that it contributed to a joyful Christmas for their family.

To reach the final, Sahil showcased his skill by overcoming tough competitors. In the quarterfinals, he defeated Sanjeev Nadi, the current number one player from Sigatoka, and in the semifinals, he bested Jiten Prasad, who ranks third in Fiji. Sahil acknowledged the competitive spirit that has marked their matches over the years.

Jan Mohammed, the chairman of the club’s board of trustees, reiterated the club’s commitment to enhancing its status as a premier location for snooker in Fiji, indicating an exciting future for the sport in the country.

The quarterfinals also featured participants Sanjeev Nand, Kushaal, Roneel Sami, and Abdul Zaved, while the top 16 qualifiers included notable players such as Raymond Reddy and Esala Talebula.

This event not only showcases local talent but also strengthens family bonds, with Sahil and Yogen demonstrating that competition can bring families closer together.
