A father has been found guilty of sexual crimes against his biological daughter, as determined by Justice Sunil Sharma of Lautoka. The court’s ruling included two counts of sexual assault and one count of rape, relating to incidents that took place over the past year.

Court documents reveal that the daughter was assaulted on two occasions at her grandmother’s residence. The first incident happened when she exited the washroom, after which she confided in her mother about her father’s inappropriate behavior in the bathroom. On another occasion, the girl was again victimized while lying in bed with her eldest sister and two brothers, an episode that was discovered by her eldest sister when she caught their father in the act.

Justice Sharma dismissed the accused’s claims of innocence as implausible, emphasizing that the evidence presented clearly supported the victim’s claims. The judge stated, “I do not accept that the accused did not do anything to the complainant,” and highlighted that the circumstances involved actions that any reasonable person would judge as indecent.

This case underscores the importance of addressing sexual assault and supporting victims, fostering a more vigilant community. As the legal system takes action against such crimes, it instills hope for survivors that justice can indeed prevail, and it encourages others to come forward and share their experiences.

In summary, the conviction serves as a crucial reminder that society must remain committed to protecting the vulnerable and ensuring accountability for perpetrators of such heinous acts.
