A father has been found guilty of sexual offenses against his biological daughter, following a ruling by Lautoka judge Justice Sunil Sharma. The conviction encompasses two counts of sexual assault and one count of rape, relating to incidents that occurred last year and this year.

Court documents revealed that the father raped his daughter at her grandmother’s house on two separate occasions. The first incident transpired when the victim was leaving the washroom, leading her to inform her mother about the harassment. On the second occasion, the father assaulted her while she was in bed with her older sister and two brothers. The situation was brought to light when the elder sister discovered their father in the act.

Justice Sharma dismissed the defendant’s claims of innocence, stating that the evidence overwhelmingly supported the charges against him. He noted that the defense’s narrative was not credible, and he found the accusations to be serious violations of decency.

This conviction underscores the ongoing efforts to hold individuals accountable for sexual crimes, especially against vulnerable victims. It serves as a reminder of the importance of listening to survivors and the crucial role of the justice system in ensuring their voices are heard and validated.

As communities continue to combat such offenses, this case may foster a greater awareness of the need for protective measures for children and the importance of safeguarding their well-being. Society collectively stands hopeful that robust legal actions like this can deter future acts of violence and provide reassurance to victims seeking justice.
