The Ministry of Health is currently assessing the circumstances surrounding the death of a 23-year-old following a tooth extraction at the Taveuni Dental Clinic. Health Minister Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu stated that the evaluation will focus on the procedures and practices involved in the extraction to ascertain the factors that may have contributed to the fatal incident. He assured that updates would be provided as the evaluation progresses. Dr. Atonio added that an investigation would only be launched if formal complaints are lodged, indicating that specific protocols need to be adhered to. He noted that, at this time, no complaints have been received regarding the case. The family of the deceased is reportedly too heartbroken to speak to the media.
