A 38-year-old man from Vidogo Settlement in Vatuwaqa is set to appear in the Suva Magistrate Court on a murder charge. This follows an incident that occurred on New Year’s Eve involving the suspect and several others during a drinking party.
During the early hours of New Year’s Day, an altercation broke out between the suspect and the victim, a 32-year-old manager. The fight escalated, resulting in the suspect allegedly assaulting the victim, who subsequently became unresponsive. The suspect transported the victim to CWM Hospital, where he was pronounced dead later on.
Investigators have based their inquiries on statements from six witnesses who were present at the gathering. The suspect now faces a murder charge under Section 312 of the Crimes Act of 2009 and will appear in court tomorrow.
